Our Graduate-Level Interns
Gaby Correa, Counseling Intern (she/her/ella)
CLINICAL INTERN
My name is Gaby Correa, a student intern at Grand Canyon University. I am deeply passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces where clients feel heard, seen, and validated. My goal is to guide individuals in their personal growth, helping them overcome challenges and develop the skills they need to become the best versions of themselves.
I bring a combination of clinical knowledge and hands-on experience to my work. In addition to my counseling training, I have extensive experience in behavioral therapy through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), working directly with clients to implement evidence-based interventions, develop coping skills, and reinforce positive behaviors. This experience has strengthened my ability to assess client needs, track progress, and adapt strategies to support individual growth effectively.
I chose counseling because I believe everyone deserves a space where they can be understood without judgment. I am inspired by the courage clients show when facing their challenges and am honored to walk alongside them in their journey toward healing and self-discovery. My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and focused on fostering growth, self-awareness, and well-being.
My name is Benjamin Boldt, I am a second year Masters in Counseling intern from Eastern New Mexico University.
My primary goal is a meet clients where they are at. I aim to listen intently to stories and experiences, working collaboratively to locate a path towards improved well-being and healing. I strive to be genuine, as I believe the most important tool a therapist has is their own humanity.
As a counselor in training, I am excited to learn and develop my skill set. To add to that, the most personally valuable part of my education is what I learn from clients.

Over the past year, I have worked with individuals of all ages experiencing complex trauma, while diving deeper into the clinical field of social work gaining experience in trauma-informed care. At Transcending Counseling, I hope to continue learning, growing, and making a meaningful impact throughout my internship journey while strengthening my clinical skills. A little bit about me outside of social work… you can usually find me at a barre class, making matcha, enjoying good food, exploring new places, and spending time with family.

Kaiya Hernandez, MSW Intern (she/her)
My name is Sam, and I am currently in the second year of my Master of Social Work program at New Mexico State University. As a counseling intern, my goal as I learn and grow as a clinician is to hold the grace and space for clients to work toward the progress they are seeking. I bring experience in community support, youth development, client advocacy, and coaching. My background includes helping individuals and families access resources and services, as well as coaching and mentoring youth and young adults in a variety of settings. Through these experiences, I developed a passion for helping others overcome challenges, build resilience, and recognize their strengths.
My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and collaboration. Using a strengths-based and person-centered approach, I work to help clients develop coping skills, improve emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, and move toward the goals that matter most to them.

CLINICAL INTERN
Adam Wallace, Counseling Intern (he/him)
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Adam Wallace, and I am a Mental Health Counseling Intern from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Go Miners!
My therapeutic style is eclectic, with a foundation in humanistic therapy and incorporating techniques from other therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Nature-Based Counseling, and more. I strongly believe in the importance of a collaborative relationship between therapist and client, the resilience of clients, and the brain’s ability to heal and adapt.
I hope to create a safe and comfortable environment where clients can explore and gain awareness of themselves, their problems, and their environment, while strengthening the positive aspects within themselves to help achieve their goals.
